2010 Annual Report Now Available. With the adoption of our new Area Plan comes some minor changes to our project focus. While we continue to emphasis agriculture development in the region, we will expand our focus to also include forestry and water resource issues. Recently Adopted Projects Oxford County Distribution Network In support of Area Plan goal 1, objective G, Threshold To Maine will assist a group of Oxford County Farmers investigate and implement strategies to expand storage and distribution networks in the County to help get more local product onto the retail market. Threshold To Maine will help coordinate data collection and analysis, facilitate meetings, and bring producers and businesses like Crown of Maine and Farm Fresh Connection together. Presumpscot River Watershed Revolving Loan Fund The purpose of the project is to set up a revolving loan fund to help landowners and communities cover the short term costs of developing forest stewardship plans in the Presumpscot River Watershed. These plans are aimed at improving the long term water quality in the watershed. Oxford County Business and Non-Profit Web-Resource Upgrade Threshold To Maine has been asked to facilitate a committee process for the WMEDC that will help update and improve the organizations website. Threshold To Maine will help with project planning, agenda planning and meeting facilitation. Seasonal High Tunnels As part of an NRCS pilot program under the Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA) Program, RC&D will assist selected landowners with the installation of seasonal high tunnels for the purpose of demonstrating their conservation value as it relates to soil and water resources. The Wilton Group To provide technical assistance to the Wilton Group in developing their organizations strategic plan and providing guidance on the incorporation process. Three Rivers Land Trust To provide technical and coordination assistance to the Three Rivers Land Trust as they work to protect two properties. Assistance will be project coordination and grant writing. Lamb Marketing Cooperative To assist a group of lamb farmers develop a Corporation that will help provide a structure for the farms to work together to expand production and markets. Technical assistance in business planning and organizational development will be provided. |
